LARK

I’m warm, content, and pleasantly sore in all the right places. That was one hell of a dream. I yawn and stretch, then freeze at the male chuckle in my ear.

“Careful, siren, that’s my bad shoulder you’re laying on.” Oh shit.

I jump up and start checking to make sure I didn’t do any damage. His laughter intensifies, and I glance up. Holy shit, he’s ticklish? I drag my fingers down his ribs, and he almost falls off the chaise.

“Serves you right. Are you trying to undo all my hard work?” I slap his hands away when he tries to lay me back down on his chest.

“Nope. Naptimes over. I need to get home.” I try to climb over him, and he flips me on my back.

“I need my breakfast first.” My eyes grow wide, and shock fills me.

“Um, I need a shower, don’t you dare.” My words are all in vain because he’s already lapping at me like a cat with a bowl of cream.

“Fuck Ben, please.” Not really sure what I’m asking for, but boy, does he deliver.

A large bang sounds, and we both freeze.

“That’ll be the liquor delivery.” He drags his fingers around his mouth and then sucks them clean.

Why is that so hot?

He hands me my clothes, and I get dressed quickly. I mourn the loss of his chest when his shirt covers up my new favorite place to sleep.

“Oh my god, what time is it?” Panic takes over.

I only work every other Saturday but today is one of them.

“Seven, hey, you ok?” FUCK!

“I’m late! I have appointments eight to noon today.” I kiss him and run at the wall but have no idea how to open it.

“Easy, I’ll take you. You can shower there. I’m sure you have extra scrubs in your office.” He’s right, but not other things.

“No bra or panties, though.” His smile irks my soul.

“I can not work without underwear, Benedict.” He opens the wall and continues to smirk at me.

I make a run for the door. If I speed and run every light, I can make it to my apartment to grab what I need before the office.

“Hey, relax, or you’ll undo all my hard work.” Asshole!

“Haha, I gotta go.” He shakes his head and kisses me.

“Let me sign for these, and then we’ll go. You shower, and I’ll go get you what you need.” It hits me that I have my car, so why is he pushing to take me?

I’m not waiting around to find out. As soon as he turns his back, I’m out the door and in my Volvo. I rush across town and manage to get a shower, dressed, and drive to the office without getting pulled over. Bonus, I’m only five minutes late.

I call that a win in my book. I’ll have to think of a way to apologize for my hasty departure later. Right now, I have patients to see.
